How could you use podcasting in your classroom? Give some examples. Why
would podcasting increase student learning and understanding? What
students would benefit?
The way I would like to use podcasting in my classroom is to demonstrate to my younger students how to use various computer programs. Especially our typing program which is new to our younger students. I’d also like to include a parental portion, which explains the download and necessary information for home use. I can also see a tutorial for every computer program used in our lab as beneficial podcasts. I think these podcast could be used as reinforcement or in a flipped learning environment. I think a wide variety of students would benefit form podcast. Starting with the learner who needs extended help, who can view the lesson after it has been taught for reinforcement. I think podcast can also help a learner who has a limited attention span. Most podcast are short and driven specifically to the point of the lesson. Most obvious a podcast is beneficial to both the auditory and visual learner. Podcasting increases student learning and understanding because of the simple concept of repetition. Another great aspect of this concept is the accessibility of podcasts, from devices to location of viewing. ~Kim Von Tobel
Podcasting is a great thing because it allows students to be taught with out being in the classroom. I enjoy using podcasting for music programs students may not be familiar with. In example i am currently using it for a program called note flight which allows students to write music online. the same as other purchased programs. I have created podcasts to help students navigate the program as well as help them with the assignments given through out the course.
